Priscilla Romero
Costa Rica, 1984

Visual artist and researcher in the field of expanded graphics and contemporary body practices. She combines her artwork with teaching, being a tenured professor at the School of Art and Visual Communication of the National University since 2007. She is PhD at the Art Production and Research program of the Polytechnic University of Valencia 2021.

For more than a decade she has developed a new printmaking technique called latexgraphy, through which it records, transfers and reproduces the prints of the skin and other surfaces using latex matrices that transmute the body imprint into various materials in a two and three-dimensional way, in order to establish a critical discourse around the hegemonic perception of the body in our society, and the relationships that we build with others from the image embodied in our skin. From this approach, time engraves the marks that constituted the graphic memory that identifies each person. Therefore, Romero's work consists of documenting this vital trace of lines and textures, to reconfigure a collective, poetic and anonymous imaginary of the body, far from the conventional canons and stereotypes of beauty.
